• Knitting & Crocheting Class

Do you knit or crochet, or would you like to learn traditional, creative skills? If so, you may wish to see if there any vacancies within our Knitting & Crocheting Class, which  is part of the Group Activities that run from our Centre in Leigh.

The Knitting & Crocheting Class was started by one of our Volunteers, Agnes Wall, 8 years ago, and is one one of our most popular groups. Apart from the creative skills you can enhance or learn from scratch, the group enjoy a social atmosphere at each of their get togethers.

The class runs every Wednesday for 2 hours from 1.30 pm.

  • Art Class

I have been teaching Arts and Crafts for 20 years at Pensioners Link on Wednesday mornings from 10-12. The group takes part in project-based activities, and are encouraged to work by themselves to promote independent learning, whilst also sharing their artistic knowledge and skills with other group members.

The Art Gang meet on Thursday mornings from 10-12. As a professional tutor, I lead group activities which consist of painting and drawing using materials such as watercolours, acrylics , oils and a variety of drawing tools. The members like to paint and draw various subject matters such as landscapes, seascapes, animals and buildings.

Whether it be through 1:1 tuition or collaborative work, the main aim of these groups is to promote the members' wellbeing, prevent social isolation, and to encourage the development of new skills which benefit their mental health through a creative process.

    PENSIONERS LINK COFFEE MORNINGS

Drop In Coffee Mornings at Pensioners Link (Tuesday 10.00 to 12.00, Friday 10.00 to 12.00).

Are you feeling a bit lonely or isolated? Would you like to meet some new and different people?

Pensioners Link Coffee Mornings might be something you should consider. We engage in activities like quizzes, cards, games and the like, or we just sit and chat and catch up with all our news. Occasionally we will have a guest speaker in to give us a talk on something interesting. We find that most people who come would normally be on their own at home, so it is lovely that we all get together and enjoy each other’s company.

  • IT Group (Digital Technology)

    IT Group

Do you ever feel left behind when it comes to the internet? Wondered what all the fuss is about? Or think I would quite to have a go but haven’t got the confidence? If any of this describes you, the IT Group may be able to help in an informal and friendly atmosphere. The session is run on a Monday between 10-12 am by Mike, an experienced tutor and where everyone can learn at their own pace with no pressure.

Rodney, who has been coming to the group for a couple of years, says he’s benefited greatly with using his tablet from knowing nothing. More than everything it has taught him to “read what’s on the screen and don’t panic”.

Even if you don’t have a computer, tablet or smart phone, there will be something for you to have a go with. Come along for a chat and a cup of tea and just remember the only daft question is one you don’t ask!
